One of the things that has helped our home be organized is a basket by the door. My mom gave me a small basket for Christmas last year so I set it on the counter by our back door. Now every time we bring in mail, keys, cell phone, or misc. it goes right in the basket to be found (lost keys :-), filed, or put away later.
